Reply to webmaster I've seen your brother many times down on the peninsula. He used to ride by on his bicycle w/a big red bird and he was always smiling. I don't live there anymore so passing along the greeting will be impossible but maybe someone locally will read this and help you out. What do you say folks? Someone tell the Birdman that the other Birdman says "Happy Veteran's Day".

Yes, I can see both sides now too (of what they call the "right" coast out here) and since I lived my first 41 years on the West coast, I won't make a definitive decision on which is "best" until I've lived here for 41 years (God willin'). But I think they both have their positives and negatives. I miss the SANDY beaches of the west coast, and the warmth of course , and I love the ruggedness and the quiet and the lack of development on the Maine coast, as for beauty they are two sides of the same coin. I've seen many an awesome sunset on the Pacific and now I get the joy of sunrises on the Atlantic. (I've found the older I get, the earlier I like getting up- don't want to waste any daylight! )

I have been in Newport four years ago. It was the best time of my vacation. I love this place, and I'm thankful that I can be connected via this site.

Ps. Sorry for my english

Reply to webmaster Pretty close. One form of the verb "to be" is a little whacky, otherwise top notch. ::do widzenia

I live in Bucksport, Maine (near Bangor, midcoast region, along the Penobscot river) I moved here from Santa Cruz nearly 7 years ago (lived in SC mountains, worked in town for 14 years), and I was born and raised in southern California, grew up going to Newport, Huntington, Balboa, Laguna all the time, so I enjoy seeing Newport as well. I wouldn't trade this coast for that one, but I do miss it sometimes, and appreciate being able to see it. Thanks so much! I'll keep checking back from time to time.

Love the website! Keeps me going during the long rainy season here in the NW. Grew up in Corona, CA and spent every free minute on 19th St at Newport...this also cures my homesick blues! Thanks for keeping me connected with my heart land! Love watching Taxi grow up, nice touch!

In 1983/84 I read an l m boyd column in the Spokesman Review, (Spokane) that gave a 20 word sentence for an example of a rhopalism - defined as a snowball sentence.
It started out, "I do not know where" and something about lawyers, lawyers was the 7th letter. Anyway do you know where I can find this sentence. The first word is one letter and the 2nd letter is two all the way up to a 20 letter word. It is stating that they don'e understand why lawyers want to use such big words that no one else can understand. I love trivia and i have this page bookmarked - thanks for the hours of entertainment.

Hi there, I just wanted to thank you for your webcam in Newport... it has been such a huge help to me, trying to figure out if it's a nice enough day to tough out the traffic, grab my daughter and head out to the beach for some play time. Before I discovered your site I was showing up disappointed by fog, wind, and all sorts of other things that didn't turn up on weather.com... Now I check your cam every single day and know what's going on and what to expect and we spend SO MUCH more time hanging out in the sand! Thank you so much!

Your website gets better every time I take a peek - I LOVE being able to view the photos now with the automatic scrolling! No more click, click, click - it's awesome! And your comments to those who sign the guestbook usually elicit a giggle! My trips to the peninsula are rare (old age has kicked in) so I look at your webcams to get a fix...and I don't have to deal with the drunken, rowdy amateurs - it's great! Anyhooooo....thanks for keeping up the site...put up some new photos! Your fan club wants to see more!
